Hey Vasanti,
I must say your website is simply amazing.
As or the khichadi, I must say I agree it is the best ever. I remember eating it multiple times and telling aunty that. Reading your blog just brings back those memories.
I will try out the receipe but I am sure it can never turn of as delicious as your moms!
Regards to her.

Hey Vasanti,

I tried the trick, rinsed the sabudana and soaked it for half hour and rinsed it again. It didn't come out well, it was still sort of 'kachrat'.. so soaked it overnight... turned out ok in the morning. It probably is the sabudana also. But with the peanut powder measurement you suggested it wasn't soggy this time. It turned out much better! I guess I need to practice. Thanks for the tips!

Hi Vasanti,

Your blog is really very nice. I love reading all your posts, especially the pictures that you put up. You obviously take a lot of efforts and it pays off. Everything looks yummy..

Hey Prachi, thanks! I have never tried the microwave method, but my mom does it in India and I think it turns out to be as good as the stovetop version.

Hey Deepali,
I too get sabudana from the Indian store and I never immerse it in water for soaking. As you see in the post above, all I do is to rinse it thoroughly under cold tap water till the water coming out of the sieve is clear and not cloudly white. Let it sit for 1/2 hour and again rinse it thoroughly with tap water. This process will remove all the unnecessary starch.
Also important is the proportion of peanut powder to sabudana. It is 3/4th cup to 1 cup respectively. This proportion will ensure that the khichadi doesn't become sticky.

These two things together should work out. Lemme know.....

Vaas, I made khichadi today cos its some sort of upwaas. But mine never ever turns out nice cos I get the sabudana from an Indian store here. Its either too soggy or the water never soaks properly. Any suggestions about how I should soak it? I tried soaking it overnight or soaked it for 2-3 hours etc. Nothing really works for me.
